I am a single hetero male in his 50's, energetic and healthy...not ready for the other side of the grass yet.
What areas of the overall Tampa metro area would fit my lifestyle? Probably would want a condo price range to no higher than 250k.
It seems many areas are young family oriented and I would most likely not fit in. What about Brandon for instance?

Where are you working? Brandon is a suburban town outside of Tampa(about 15 miles east of downtown Tampa). What is most important to you regarding where you live(parks, restaurants, nightlife, recreation, people, etc....) Personally, I would enjoy a condo along Bayshore Blvd, or in the Hyde park neighborhood, but someone else may want to be downtown and enjoy a condo on Harbour Island or Channelside, or even the Central Business District of downtown...then again, someone else may like the funky vibe of Ybor City...then again someone may want to live on the beaches of Pinellas County, or in a suburban gated community like Tampa Palms or New Tampa.....different strokes for different folks...

tampaguy03 has it right. Figure out your priorities: on the beach or downtown? Commuting issues. Access to the stuff that's important. Tampa area has it all, but everything is not in every place.

What about downtown St Pete - lots of stuff going on there all ages, but you would not feel out of place there I am sure

Wouldn't Hyde Park condos or anything around Bayshore Blvd. be expensive? Does that area need flood insurance?

check out the feather sound area. i have a condo that i own advertised very low under market price on craigslist. it's not a short sale. feather sound is very nice. i think you might like it. also the riverview area, i can only speak about what i know and these are 2 areas i am very familiar with. riverview is very close to everything, yet, far enough away from everything. riverview is a suburb of brandon and i LOVE brandon, VERY VERY up and coming and young and lots to do, AWESOME restaurants, beautiful mall, close to EVERYTHING, awesome casino 7 minutes away, just close to everything and everything is very new, all new construction, just beautiful.
