Has any one else noticed that greasy stench in the air around Tampa Bay? What's that smell? Odd odor blows into Tampa Bay | Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Sarasota | WTSP.com 10 Connects

Just think if the spill was closer to shore.

Nobody even seems exactly sure what to do to contain this spill/stop the bleeding. it is frustrating that there is apparently so little contingency planning in place. The latest news is that it may affect beaches as close as Pensacola.

It isn't just the environment that suffers. Fishing grounds, oyster beds, etc. all stand to lose in something like this. That affects real people, real families, etc. Everyone in the supply chain, including the consumer gets affected. And we've already talked about what happens to the tourist areas. And I'm pretty sure that anyone- regardless of philosophical views- will have a hard time seeing a white sand beach and blue waters turned into an oil slick.

Very sad, all the way around. If there is an upshot, this accident may have saved FL- had it not happened we would have had rigs offshore, but now perhaps we'll be spared.
