That was a stupid thing to say! Your in Florida, if your that unhappy-leave! If you want to live in an area with crime, go ahead and live in the bigger cities, you will for sure find it there!

So what you're saying is that bland and uncontrolled sprawl is a defining element of Florida and that no effort to regulate that should be taken? That's a pretty stupid thing to say.

Brandon is an ok place to live, not the best, but still better than Bradenton. Brandon could actually be considered Tampa imo. Its so close. Its perfect for anyone who wants to leave the crime in Tampa since they are also really close to things at the same time. I'm jealous of those who live in Brandon right now for this reason.

Default Do not recomend Winter Haven and driving to Orlando & Tampa.

You would be on highway I-4 which is known for crazy drivers, wrecks that turn it into a parkinglot, ocassional fires with smoke that blind and cause wrocks and then the intense rain we are known for down here. It's a stressful and dangerous drive.

ONly do this if is it short term.

Brandon has everything a person could want. Restaurants, shopping, hotels, doctors, the Westfield Mall, etc. If you want easy access to highways and don't want to actually live in Tampa, Brandon might be a suburb to consider.

<bump>

It's becoming somewhat more likely that I will be working in south Lakeland, possibly as soon as December. Any comments on the Brandon to Lakeland commute? Any advantage to avoiding I-4 and shooting crosscountry?

I'd really like to be closer to the Gulf than say Winter Haven.

Thanks!

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read on the internet, and I've read a lot. Brandon will never, no matter how hard they attempt to market themselves, be Tampa (or a big city). The crime out here is just as bad, if not worse. Brandon is close to nothing outside of a mall. Like walking around? Awesome! So do the bums. Have fun when they start asking for money. As a matter of fact, have fun going anywhere. Inside shopping plazas, on the sidewalks, in the dumpsters, etc. Save yourself the headache and move to Tampa.
