Question Safe neighborhood near USF--Lake Magdalene?

I am an incoming USF graduate looking for a safe, quiet neighborhood area to live. I used to live in Brandon 15 years ago; therefore, I do not know the good neighborhoods anymore.

Can anyone tell me how Lake Magdalene area is like? I saw an apartment complex called The Park at Lake Magdalene and some nearby waterfront condos called Whispering Oaks. They are off Fletcher Ave.

If anyone can help me, thank you so much.

I too am moving to Tampa for grad school at USF in the fall. I will be getting a place with my sister, who currently lives in The Park at Lake Magdalene. I stayed at her place one night for the interview weekend. She has a one bedroom. The complex seems fairly innocuous and quiet, but I'd prefer something a bit closer to the university. Something within bike riding distance.

anything along fletcher avenue is pretty much fine as far as safety...as long as it isnt in between 275 and bruce b downs, that stretch is pretty ghetto, but its only that stretch
