I just got a new one in. The cap is 1500, and you have to get the 15 Seer and up (correct me if I'm wrong.)

PM me if you want a recommend for a great company. I just had a Carrier unit put in and it's fantastic. It's like living in an entirely new house.

I would go for a 15 or up SEER. I bought this house in 04 and the AC never seems to cool the house on days with temps 90 or more. From 5pm till 10pm it runs non stop in the summer and the house feels kinda humid.

I have a 1995 10 SEER system , the AC guy will come out Monday to clean the air handler, i hope to nurse it along till the fall and get a new system then. He said the system was half butt installed and has the wrong size copper tubing.

From what I've read the installation is the most important thing in regards to an AC system. Poor installation = inefficient/problems.
