Northern Virginia - try either Prince William or Fairfax County.

As for NEPOTISM, welcome to the wold of EDUCATION...

Some places in the South might be hiring, but DON'T come to Alabama! I have yet to be able to find a decent ESL teaching position in this place, even though they have a significant international community. Right now, I work as a part-time ESL teacher, and I had to work several months as a volunteer before they hired me on. I make about $200 per month off of it and I sometimes have to buy my own supplies or go without.

Wow, does that mean they are hiring ESL teachers, then? I speak a little Spanish, and I'm fully certified for ESL for grades K-12. I'm definitely ready to abandon ship and go somewhere else. I'm tired of smart mouthed little tyrants smirking at me and gleefully shouting, "we've got a substitute," but I can't live off of only $200-$250 dollars per month, so I have to make a living somehow. It would be so nice to have a full-time teaching position and not just do it as a part-time job. The state I live in really NEEDS more Reading and English / Language Arts teachers, but are they going to find room in the budget to hire them, nope. If they did, maybe I wouldn't still be looking for a job.
