I am moving to NYC and I have a bachelors on educational studies, I was wondering how it's the process so that you can become a teacher?

I don't know what a bachelor's in educational studies entails.

Is it a teacher training program? One on pedagogy? Educational theory?

Is it from a U.S.-based college or university?

The best answer to the OP's question -- in my view -- is to visit a college and inquire as to programs available and if all of her credits will transfer into a program for special ed teaching.

Another possibility, since sped teachers are at a premium is to go to a school system personnel office that is hiring and ask for their advice.

Yeah it's American, it's basically the studies teachers do minus student teaching.

Utah State university.

You basically study everything teachers study, but you do not get to do student-teaching, instead you write a thesis based on an educational concept or project.

I was doing Special Ed. intially but had to change paths because of personal reasons, I ended up having to move and never got to do my student-teaching, so schools when that happens replace student teaching with a thesis and you graduate with a bachelors on Educational studies.

I am aware we have a serious need for teachers and I want to do it. (I just need to know how).

I've been told they have alternate ways towards certification if you want to go into teaching and happen to have a bachelors!

Because I fell terribly sick and I needed rehabilitation, surgery, and therapy for one year.
