Just wondering: you bought the product he needed, right? And delivered it to him at work? Is there any reason why you didn't ask him to pay you at that time? Or is part of the story missing? The thread title's a little misleading. You didn't actually loan him money. You agreed to pick up a work-related item he wanted. Somehow, he managed to wangle the product out of you without paying. I'm curious as to how that went down.
OP here. Forgot the ending to the story.
About three weeks ago, last day of school for teachers, he comes to me with a check that he asked me not to cash until the first day of the month.....a check for $30, signed by his wife. I said you still owe me $20. He said "I know but I was hoping to play golf today and I needed this $20." I took the $20 out of his hand and said thanks....you can still go play golf and we're paid off now finally. He looked at me like I shot his puppy.
That's that. I hope.
Thanks for the update. What's wrong with this guy? He can't even write a $30 check without having to hedge, and wait until his next paycheck comes in to make good on it?! Golf? His desire to play golf takes precedence over paying someone back a relatively paltry amount? Well, I guess now you know where his money's been going, all this time; golf and other frivolous "wants". This guy is a child. I hope his instructional prowess in the classroom makes him worth retaining.
