I was just wondering if anyone knows of any four seasons states or cold weather states with teacher shortages.

I have two friends that were hired over the phone to work in Alaska. I think that the state desperately needs teachers.

Some of the remote towns in South Dakota and North Dakota, especially on the Indian Reservations, are always looking for teachers. You might have some luck in more rural areas of the northern states, especially if you teacher math, science, special education.

What's your subject area? Math, Science, Family & Consumer Sciences and special education teachers are in short supply. They can usually pick their employer.

Areas of New Mexico, also, have had trouble attracting/keeping teachers. The Navajo Reservation is there and is in high desert country so, while I wouldn't really call it "4 season," it does get cold and snowy in the winter.

Unfortunately for me, I wish I could pick my employer. My area is elementary education. I know this is pretty much the same field as almost everyone else.

If you're willing to do inner-city, Philadelphia's been doing a lot of hiring. I know of a lot who are getting jobs in Virginia, as well (Stafford, Spotsylvania, Fairfax, Arlington, Shenandoah).
