I'm not a teacher, but I had the same question when I graduated in '07. Here's my advice:

Get a job, so that 1) you can pay for things, and 2) so that you will hate it enough to figure out what you really want to do. I waitressed and worked at a bank, and I hate both of those things. Thus, my motivation to find something I wanted to do was stronger, and now that I'm in grad school, I have a lot more motivation to succeed.

Every day, I say to myself "This sucks right now, but it's SOOOOOO much better than what I was doing."

So, if you know what you want, go now. If you don't...get a job so you can be miserable enough to figure out what you want to do.

*Disclaimer: I am a history grad student, and a total free-spirited, liberal, anti-"the man" kind of girl. Sorry if offend anyone with my intense hatred for banks and any and all 9-5 office jobs.

Thank you everyone. I want to try to find a job first, but the whole "GET YOUR MASTER'S!!" push by my college is freaking me out.
