Take the advice of several long time board members on here .. make sure you come and visit and re-search towns before you just "up and move" without investigating.
good luck

Oh theres alot of "nice places" all over... Athens, Sweetwater, Cleveland, were the first areas I looked into when I made the move from Georgia. I wound up in Athens , rented a very nice old fashioned Apartment in a quiet neighborhood . I enjoyed my time, but realized that theres all around more oppurtunities and more going on for a single guy in his mid 30's back in Carrollton, Georgia.

Take your time, come and visit, look around and get use to humidity.
The folks are nice like we talk about everyday... but depending on what type of work ya'll are looking for, that could take some time to find.

I think it would be easier to tell you places NOT to move. I would rule out just about all of West Tennessee if nothing else than the pitiful public schools. There are pockets of ok places in West Tennessee, but the job market isn't very swift in that part of the state. The hot, muggy weather out in West Tennessee isn't much to brag about, either.

As the previous poster said, the Cleveland and Athens areas are nice. I would also say Cookeville, Maryville, and pretty much all of the Tri Cities. Cookeville, Maryville, Johnson City, and Kingsport all have excellent public schools, lower cost of living than what you'd find in big cities, yet they offer shopping, restaurants, activities, and health care facilities you'd normally find in large cities.

If you don't mind the tourist traffic in the summer you might think about Pigeon Forge,Family Vacation Fun or Sevierville,TN .
The public schools are not bad. Weather is moderate. The people that live here are friendly. Not sure what kind of job market you are in but nearby is Knoxville and there you can find just about any job you can think off.
The draw back might be the fact that it is a tourist town and most business is related to such.
Might want to check it out though.

I would say (being from up north) you should really check out different areas to see what you like. I am a city girl. Dont like the country, never have and never will. But love to drive by and look at it or visit the country. The views here are beautiful just depending what parts you go too and where you want to live. The schools (my opinion) here in Knoxville are not very good to some degree, also depending on where you live and if you want a private or public school. I would give you some of my opinions about certain parts of Knoxville, but seeing how people react on these forums to your opinion about their State (TN) they blow it out of proportion. Good Luck!
