I'd send a resume and reference letter to potential employers in those areas. See what ones actually write you or contact you back. Look up companies on the web.. the Internet is a powerful, resourceful weapon..

Chattanooga and Knoxville will probably pay more in both areas versus Kingsport and Johnson City. Jobs will be especially plentiful in Knoxville and Chattanooga with all of the building going on in both of those regions... I can't speak for Kingsport and Johnson City. In regards to pay, it will vary,,, but Chattanooga and Knoxville will most likely be pretty much the same with Knoxville paying for some and Chattanooga paying more some. For instance,, Chattanooga lags behind Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville in regards to police pay, but if you happen to work in the legal field, ie...a lawyer, paralegal, etc... Chattanooga is known to pay more those types of positions than Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville. So, I guess you never know,, you have to do your research... you can't always use the average annual salary off of some web site in any town even though it can help at least give you a good baseline.

Here's what I did. I went on several hospital's websites and emailed their HR Coordinators about their pay scales and benefits. I got a response every time and some even offered monetary assistance with relocation. Try the University of TN Medical Center.

Hengy, what is your specialty? When are you moving here again?
It's my opinion that Knoxville will pay a touch higher but all areas mentioned should have jobs for carpenters and CNA's. UT Medical Center is a great place to work with great benefits, and in Tri Cities, Wellmont and Mountain States Health Alliance are great also. I can tell you that home builders in Maryville are in need of experienced trim carpenters. I had to beg and plead to get them to come do my crown moulding as they are so busy with limited carpenters.

I think it was dakota32 that was asking about jobs for herself as a CNA and her husband who is a trim carpenter. What is funny is that my husband remodels houses and I am a Nurse. Small world I guess.

Yes, I am sorry, I didn't intend the information for you on the question above. I didn't word my post correctly. I drove back from Murfreesboro today after attending freshman orientation with my son at MTSU, I am a tired girl. That's wild about you and your hubby's jobs being similar. It is a small world though huh??
