Does anyone know the procedure to transfer my CDL licence from Florida to Tenn. when I move to the eastern Tenn. area?

Also which areas of Tenn require a motorvehicle inspection?

Thanks
Rodney and Alica

From the information I have found on CDL.. You surrender your current state CDL.. and TN will re-issue you a current TN CDL after a written test. If you have a Hazmat endorsement you will have to schedule a Home Land Security test about 2 hours.. All states require the Home Land Security Test for Hazmat.
Most of the DMV license offices have the current CDL Test. The road test is scheduled at several places around the state.. Go by the information in the link I posted..

Commercial (CDL) License

Also while going threw all this you can apply for a weapons carry permit on your licence as I understand..

Motor vehicle insp depends on the county. Here in Overton we don't care if its a tv or a car. No
Inspections. Davidson Co (Nashville) I hear is a biatch. Have to do a search.

This is the unanswered question. I have called and spoke with people at the DMV and all I get is double speak.. If your not employed and don't have access too a employers equipment for a road test..then I guess you would have to lease a vehicle.. which is big money.
Very confusing on getting a straight answer.. The other item is for Class A & B if you take a road test..then you may have too travel. As I understand there is only a hand full of places with in the state to take the road test..
This topic has been posted before.. Some people say they just walked into the DMV handed over the appropriate paper work and their out of state CDL and in 15-20 min walked out with a Tennessee CDL.. same as the state they came from..

Default That makes sense

That makes sense but I have learned not to make common sense judgements when it comes to goverment operations. I guess i will have to call them direct and then the information may not be correct.

Thanks for the reply.
