Watertown itself is very small. You'd probably do better just comparing the two counties, or comparing Springfield to Lebanon.

I would rank them about equally. I happen to like Robertson County, but that's mainly because I grew up near there in eastern Montgomery County.

The one thing that might make a difference is that lake type activities would be a little closer in Wilson County. Robertson County used to be some of the best farm land in Middle Tennessee, although farming as an occupation continues to decline. The commute into Nashville from the southern part of Robertson County would be just a bit shorter than from Watertown, I believe, if that's a concern.

Watertown is certainly smaller than Springfield, but it's closer to Lebanon and Mount Juliet, which are both larger than Springfield. Lebanon has quite a bit of retail (Home Depot, Wal-Mart), and Mount Juliet has even more (Target, Best Buy, JCPenney). Watertown is also right off I-40, so it's a straight shot to the airport. It's also closer to Center Hill Lake which has become a popular weekend getaway for Nashvillians.

I don't think you could go wrong with either choice if you're looking for a small town with a good environment for raising a family.
