But here’s the kicker: I haven’t seen any rebuttals to that type of commentary along the lines of what you posted that started this thread. Yet, I’ve seen FAR more posts in line with my paraphrasing above from those who want to hide in what they might consider a conservative paradise. So where’s the outrage, as I often have to ask in political forums?
I'm not trying to single out liberals at all. My concerns are mainly from people who have unjustified fears that where they're about to move is rank with unscrupulous individuals. It doesn't matter to me. I would do the same if someone came on here and said they heard that the booger man lived in TN and they were worried that they might run into him. We get people who say they're scared to death of tornadoes, bugs, humidity, thunderstorms, religious right-wingers, and so forth.I've made comments on all of those above. As you might recall, I've made a few comments to the same effect to some of the more conservative posts... like the whole stay at home mom, "raisin' the kids rite' post. Besides, I don't I've seen any posts from anyone saying that they want to get away from the liberals, have you? Most are getting away from overpriced areas and bad economies. I'd say the No.1 biggest issue here is more about people clawing at efforts to raise their families with less financial stress.A close second is where to retire.
So I'm not intentionally singling out any political group.I think both extreme conservatives and liberals are equally obnoxious, and I generally hold equally low perceptions of both. So I don't have an agenda to go after all those 'liberals'.
Anyhow, we've milked this one to death and I think we know where we stand. I am fine with agreeing to disagree. It makes this forum more interesting...

Silverbox,
I respect what you are saying and thank you for clearing it up! I absolutely agree that the southern way of living is being decimated and even though I am not southern born and bred it sickens me. As you may or may not know we have lived in various parts of the south and dearly love the southern culture (what you are still able to find) and had fantastic "local" friends who regularly lamented that their city(s) were being destroyed by rude, demanding and thoughtless people. Our friends were the type that if I had just moved in next door and my car broke they would have given me theirs to go where I needed to with no thought.....that is one thing I loved, they sized you up when they met you and trusted you until you proved yourself untrustworthy. Unfortunately they decided to leave and go farther into the hills to escape.
The thing about where we are now is no one really trusts anyone and to have friends here you have to live here for years. Even for people to really talk to you (past hello, the weather etc.) you have to live here a year or more, not to nention it is being overrun by DINKS (dbl income no kids) or wealthy retiree's from the big cities that have NO understanding of the slower life or that we even have inside plumbing. So, bottom line I guess I see what you are up to and can respect it.......

I’ll have faith that you mean that; however, it would have been much clearer had the title of your thread been: A few comments for those seeking “liberal” or [“conservative”] hot spots.

Oh, yes. Absolutely. That’s why I commented about it in my post above. I’ve seen it a lot and without a word in rebuttal except in a couple of threads from me. Most of such posts I found had long since gone cold and I discovered them by reading posts by others and stumbling onto them.

If what you say above is true, then apparently we do not disagree. Well, except maybe on a finer point: In my opinion, as this IS the City-Data forum for Tennessee, then it CERTAINLY IS the best place to ask questions and get answers about the State and her cities. I’ve gone a few rounds with another poster over this issue in the recent past. The bigger question is how each individual who wishes to answer will respond. Or, come up with another purpose for City-Data.com.

I agree, City-Data state forums are a place to ask and answer questions about the state and towns one wants to know about or those that live here like to talk about. Even though the political aspect is relevant to someone wanting to know about an area, we can't let threads steer totally to politics and debates about said political conversations. I believe this thread, even though a bit controversial and leaning towards a debate between a few, is a good example of the political feelings in the state. That is why I am not going to move it to the politics forum, but I do believe it is time to close it. I anyone wishes to continue this further, please feel free to start a new thread in the politics forum.
Thank you all for you invaluable insights.
