I've heard some things about Jackson having a high crime rate. Is Jackson a good or bad place to live? I am trying to get a job there.

Most cities in Tennessee have relatively high crime rates because of legislation failures of the State gov't. In this case, just stay away from southeast Jackson and you shouldn't have much trouble.

The State Government DOES NOT make people commit crimes whether they pass a certain law or not. You are either a good person or you aint! No matter where you live.

TRUE, but the State Government makes it hard to keep the bad people locked up. They typical get right out of jail and go right back to their criminal ways. We have people in Memphis that have been convicted of burglary over 50 times who are free as a bird. They just continue on until they eventually kill somebody. If you can't keep bad guys off the street due to lax state sentencing laws it’s hard to reduce the crime rate. One thing I always find funny is when a criminal makes the mistake of actually being caught committing a crime across the border in Mississippi. They find out quick that MS is not as friendly to criminals as Tennessee.

Exactly. A few of them have found out the hard way what "3 strikes, you're out" means.

Like most Southern towns of 60,000+, Jackson has its share of crime. Violent crime in Jackson tends to be limited to certain parts of town.

As I understand it, violent crime in Jackson has gone down drastically over the last couple of years and particularly this year.

Best wishes.
