Default Is everyone in Flordia going to move to Van Buren County, TN?

I notice that on the Hawks Bluff on Baker Mountain Road on Indian Trails on Rocky River Road and on Hidden Falls just outside Spencer that all of these developments the lots and tracks of land are being sold to people from Florida.
People from Flordia cities like: Miami, Cape Coral, Boca Raton, Vero Beach, Orlando, Tampa, Pembroke Pines, Bradenton, are just a few buying in Hawks Bluff. At Indian Trails on down on Rocky River road people are buying from: Ft. Lauderdale, Boynton Beach, Coconut Creek, Sunrise, Parkland, etc. and I noticed a new development just outside Spencer with buyers from Ft. Myers, Cape Coral, Lake City, Sanibel and Sarasota.
I also noticed that in Indian Trails a couple from New Jersey and one from New York had bought lots.
With so many people buying the well drilling business, septic tank business and house building must be booming in Van Buren County.
Well you have a great place to live. It's rugged, it's beautiful, and the people if you accept and don't try to change them, among the best anywhere, but now jobs that would be another story.

Well these are big places that are advertising down here in FL both on TV and in the newspapers and most of the cities you listed are just over crowded and chaotic all the time. Also, many Floridians are moving to East Tn and so far the majority of the ones i've talked both in person and on the forum are not moving until they are retired so jobs are not an issue for most of them. I also bought some land in East TN in a farm subdivision and the majority of the lots in the area are also bought buy Floridians. So far only 2 homes have been built there.

Very interesting. I wonder if the folks from FL, and other states, that are buying in these highly advertised subdivisions in TN realize they are way over priced in comparison with other places in TN not in big subdivisions?
Sure they are cheaper priced per acer than land in FL, that is for sure! But they are still overpriced (in my opinion) for TN. Strange how those areas are NOT advertised here in TN.

well that's just it. down here in FL in my neighborhood anyways which is nothing out of the ordinary a 1/2 acre lot goes for $40,000 where i just bought 8 acres of useable rolling acres for $45,000. Yes, some lots that were bought in the same subdivision as me in TN have had more than one owner already and the prices are now up to $69,000 for 5 acres and even higher mostly for sale by private owners. We got a good deal because there was no access to our property having a huge ridge line sticking up 3 feet across the access drive but since then, that's been taken care of. I could probably turn around and sell it for more because of the view it offers as the lot next to mine was recently sold for $90,000 for the view it offers but it's my little piece we spent a year looking for so i'm hanging onto it to build our home on.

It's All Erik Estrada's Fault!!!!!

I think we should let him have an accident...preferraby fatal. *

I was thinking of moving here a good bit of time beffore he started pitching E. TN, when I saw those ads in FL for the first time I was torn between reaching for something to puke in or go on a shooting spree with. Couple that with the fact I'm seeing more and more FL plates here everyday, and I'm starting to think about a career in crab fishing in AK. Hopefully the positive influence of the natives here will wash off on the rest of the Floridians and keep this place somewhat sane

* No, I honestly NEVER wish anything bad on anyone, it's just a joke.

Straight up, Ted!

The night before we moved to Tennessee, my husband and I were sitting up, wide awake and terrified, and watching television. Erik Estrada came on pitching Tellico Lakes.

We laughed hysterically!

The housing market tanked, so I hope that helps. Knox County and Maryville are definitely getting overrun. Major overbuilding. One builder told me it is slowing down. I hope he's right.

I don t think the people from Tn need to worry about those of us from South Florida or should I say Broward County. When I moved to Broward 27 years ago. Fort lauderdale was a low crime great place. I knew my neighbors, signled when I changed lines. opened doors for people, I say please and thank you. The people who still do above are the ones that are moving. We are the people who enjoy a small diner to have breakfast, to stop and chat and ask someone if they need help.

When I bought my 10 acres in Van Buren, I saw a for sale by owner sign and called the guy. I didn t see an add on TV, I was in the county started talking to people, I liked them and the area. Like what has been said before, most of us moving work in fire or police. We are programed to help and do the right thing, I think we will be a good fit for Van Buren.

Yes you will.

My concern about the influx (remember I am a hypocrite) is all the additional drivers. I moved up here because with very few exceptions driving around here is 'fun'. People get out of the left hand lane when being followed, and even if they don't there is usually going to be a place to pass them in the right lane pretty soon. More people means more traffic and more tension. Oh well.
