Wood carving
Around the Chattanooga area and west of it, are there any good wood carvers that sell their art work either in a shop or along the side of the road?
I have a small bear carving that my shepard puppy chewed the nose off of. Love those puppy teeth! She's also chewing our bedroom carpet, but that's something we'll tolerate as it needed to be replaced anyway. My wife is getting her wish of new floors, but not until Roxy stops getting teeth!

You can now tell everyone it's a pug dog! ;-) j/k
I know there are a few wood carvers around the state. The local PBS station has a show called Tennessee Crossroads and I've seen a few wood carvers featured on the show. I also see them at crafts fairs. That's probably one or two around Cookeville at the crafts center there. Sorry I can't get you a name for any of these.

There's a wood carver out of Cookeville named Brad Sells. Google his name to get his web site. His stuff has appeared in galleries in Chattanooga and is also available through Neiman Marcus as well as at his studio in Cookeville, which is a very pleasant 100 mile drive north of Chattanooga.

Pretty cool stuff, although some of it looks like that sculpture Ray's mother bought on "Everybody Loves Raymond."

Brasstown, just across the North Carolina line, in Clay County, has the John C. Campbell Folk School. The Brasstown carvers are known for their wood cravings of birds and animals. And that was funny hiknapster. I liked that show.

If you happen to get to Nashville, there's a couple of huge artisans / craft fairs at Centennial Park. There are literally hundreds of booths with everything from wood carving to stained glass to, well, I'm not sure what it is. It so big I get tired before I get to the end of it. That's when I go to the food vendor trailers run by the fine folks from Louisiana.
There's a big one in the spring and again in the fall, as I recall.
There is probably wood carvers at the crafts center in Cookeville, or the one in East Tennessee. I always get their names confused so I'm not even going to try.

It is not Chatt. But worth the drive to Gatlinburg, off HWY 321 there are about 5 people who sell these out in the front yard of their house. I mainly see the bear carvings, but some seem to be very good at eagles too.

I think once we're located all of those drives seem reasonable. Brad Sells looks very talented and I bet a touch pricey. I am looking for a simple wood Bear...with a nose.
The craft fairs and HWY 321 all sound like what I'm looking for.

Grizzlybear34:
Are you looking for a new bear or a repair on the chewed one. I do some carving as a hobby.
