This sounds like so much fun....you all have fun!! After having arrived back home (FL) from visiting Cumberland Cove area we hope you all realize how lucky you all are with that gorgeous terrain with lots of hiking - WOW! Loved your area.....wish we could attend your get-together but I think my hubby fears I won't leave and hug a tree up there to stay put!

I would love to be there and meet everybody, but I won't be in Tennessee until Sept. 17th, but if you repeat it next year, I'll be there.

Default In 5 days!

Ok folks, less than a week so lets nail everything down, here is what we have so far. Now remember, this is an open invitation to all and if you decided at the last minute that you want to and are going to make it after all, just come on over! But if you know you are going to be there and are not on the list below, please stand up and be counted because as you all know in TN, we want to make sure everyone has a good time and that there is plenty of eats to go around.
I am covering the cost of renting the shelter and bringing the basics but I would really appreciate it if some more folks could help out bringing some more food and drinks? The list is below of what is thus far being brought so if you could let me know what you would like to bring I would appreciate it. Just add a reply to this thread or DM me and I will update the list as info comes in.

Details:

Saturday September 8th, noonish (my family is planning to be there around 11:30 to set up so any time after that is fine) at Cumberland Mountain State Park.
It is located four miles south of Crossville on US Hwy 127, just 10 minutes from I-40. I am giving the web site link, but the lady I spoke with there says don't go by those map quest directions (listed as "detailed directions" on the web site) as they will really mix you up and send you all over the place...eeeks! TN State Parks: Cumberland Mountain State Park

The correct directions are:
Take Interstate 40-East from Nashville, West from Knoxville- take Exit #317. Travel south on US Hwy 127 for 9 miles, park entrance is on the right.

We have Shelter #3 edit, I just called to confirm reservation and they changed us to shelter #3 reserved. (I was told this would be marked at the entrance as to how to get to #2) There are paddle boats and canoes available to rent. There is a children's playground close by there are also restrooms close by (thank fully!) I was told parking is close as well.
Alcohol is NOT permitted in the park, but dogs on leashes ARE allowed!

There are picnic tables with seats in the shelter but you might want to bring chairs if you want a comfortable seat other than a bench. Don't forget the swim suit and towels if you are going to take advantage of the water activities offered at the park. Sun screen would be a good idea too.

Here is the current roll call (in order of when they spoke up) and what thus far has been offered to be brought by them.

Name how many bringing
MBMouse 4 Charcoal, plates, cups, forks, spoons and knives, condiments, flippers and tongs, name tages, table cloths, cooler and such.
Tinman313 1
Bones 2 soda,cooler, and ice
beachbyrd 4 Hot dogs and rolls
cncguy2000 3
Wendy-Margaret 5
LauraC 1 Chips, Pretzels, Cake or cookies and a pack of HD buns
Mrs1885 5 Burgers (enough for 15 or 20 people? )
Sunnyhelena 1 Gourmet food (not sure what kind but sounds good! )
kklynnt 3 cornbread salad
catwandering 1
jkmewright 1 Potato salad, corn on the cob, some kind of dessert
carolac 3 maybe 4 fried chicken
Split 2 variety of "stuff" and a plant

Anyone else? And those who haven't chose what to bring yet, what would you like to? It looks like we still need some one to bring some hamburger meat to cook, some hot dogs, some more buns (I will also bring ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce sliced tomatoes, salt and pepper) maybe some one can bring side dishes and desert type stuff??? Pickles? Am I forgetting anything? Anyone have any suggestions? This is everyones picnic/get together so please make your suggestions. I am just organizing the suggestions, setting up and making the phone calls, making sure everyone is on the same page so what ever you all want is great! This is y'alls day
