I enjoyed reading everybody's posts. Seems to be a lot of Indian blood running on these posts. Just want you to know that my great grandfather was 1/2 Indian (his mother was a full blooded American Indian). I was once asked what tribe and my answer was renegade probably. He was from Winston-Salem, N. C. and I don't know of any Indian tribes around there. You seem to be a nice bunch of people. Once again, have a wonderful time!

Too late to sign up? September 8th, is it? If I can get the day off work I am sorely tempted to drive out and meet you all.

Can you give us an update, mbmouse, summarizing what we know so far. Where it will be? What time will it start? How many people are coming? Who will bring what? Directions both to the park and where to go once we get there?

Can you also promise it won't be this hot?

Default Here's the scoop so far

Alrighty folks, at LauraC's request here is the latest.
September 8th, noonish at Cumberland Mountain State Park.
It is located four miles south of Crossville on US Hwy 127, just 10 minutes from I-40. I am giving the web site link, but the lady I spoke with there says don't go by those map quest directions( listed as detailed directions on the web site) as they will really mix you up and send you all over the place...eeeks! TN State Parks: Cumberland Mountain State Park

The correct directions are:
Take Interstate 40-East from Nashville, West from Knoxville-Exit on #317. Travel south on US Hwy 127 for 9 miles, park entrance is on the right.

We have Shelter #2 reserved.( I was told this would be market at the entrance as to how to get to #2) There are paddle boats and canoes available to rent. There is a children's playground close by there are also restrooms close by (thank fully!) I was told parking is close as well.
Alcohol is NOT permitted in the park (I guess I leave the Margareta mix and blender at home this time hehehhehe) But dogs on leashes ARE allowed!

Weather, LauraC, I happen to be a moderator and volunteered to get this thing arranged but I am not a magician! LOL! I have NO clue what the weather will be like, lets all hope and pray for sun verses rain.

Here is the current roll call(in order of when they spoke up) and what thus far has been offered to be brought by them.

Name how many bringing
MBMouse 4 Charcoal, plates, cups, condiments flippers and tongs
Hiknapster 2 Macaroni salad, sweet and sour Kielbasa
Tinman313 1
Bones 2 plain old bland soda, cooler, and ice.....
beachbyrd 4
cncguy2000 3
Wendy-Margaret 5
LauraC 1 Chips, Pretzels, Cake/cookies and a pack of HD buns
Mrs1885 5 Burgers (enough for 15 or 20 people? )
Sunnyhelena 1 Gourmet food (not sure what kind but sounds good )
kklynnt 3
catwandering 1
jkmewright 1 Potato salad

So, so far that is 32 people. Come on the rest of you, you can make it can't ya??? What else do folks want to bring food wise? Maybe someone has a bad mitten set they would want to bring? Or some Frisbees? Or a Corette set? Just some thoughts.
We still need some folks to volunteer to bring the basics, burgers or dogs. I figure if we could get 3 more folks to bring enough for 15-20 each, we will be good for those.
Name tags taken care of.
Anything I am missing? Anyone I am missing? Please if you haven't stepped up to be counted yet, please do so! 28 more days till Party time!!!

Alcoholic beverages are forbidden at Tennessee state parks. Being a teetotaler myself, that's fine with me. I think Coca-Cola tastes better than beer anyway.
