On the Ocoee River on the GA border, shoot can't remember the name of the town,....... anyone?
Do a search for Ocoee white water rafting, a bunch of stuff comes up.
They did the Olympic rafting there when it was in Atlanta.

White Water Rafting Ocoee River
Mouse,
The Ocoee River is actually in Polk County Tennessee and when it makes its way into Georgia it becomes the Toccoa River. There are 4 towns that are close, Copperhill, Ducktown, Reliance and the actual town of Ocoee. It is indeed the most intense white water rafting venue in Tennessee. There are many rafting companies in the area and they all provide the same service for just about the same price. It's a wild and wet ride and very much worth the trip.

Rt #64 East of Cleveland
MM: You are right really just called Ocoee, rt #64 east of Cleveland, nice WELCOME Center, or the 1996 Olympic Kayak site.
With the 20 years Drought we are having this year , need to Phone ahead and check on which weekends have the water "RELEASE Dates. There are many OUTFITTERS who have overnight rentals. Recently there was a news article on the Large Amount of money or multi year mortgage the Outfitters had to pay to TVA for these RELEASES or LOST Product. It was quite surprizing. ..... .. [/IMG]

Don't feel so sad. The whitewater rafting area on the Ocoee was man-made for the 1996 Olympics; those boulders are formed concrete. When TVA isn't generating electricity, you can walk down in the riverbed around the concrete boulders. And then when TVA lets water through the dam, WATCH OUT! It really is spectacular.

I have only ever seen it running full bast then! Comparatively, that is sad, but I do love a good rock hopping trip!

I have a question along this line, we have a two man fishing pontoon that we float the rivers here in MT with. I am hoping there are several rivers that move enough to float and maybe a little rapids for excitement? Maybe within a hour or so of Knoxville?

I think this is only partially true. The middle Ocoee is natural. Folks have been whitewater rafting there for years. I road it first in 1993. The upper Ocoee is partially man-made; from what I was told, to the tune of 20-something million dollars.
