I moved to Texas last summer to complete an alternative teaching certification program. I am nearly done with my first year of teaching. I hold probationary certification in Texas and will have my full, standard certificate as soon as the paperwork is processed this summer. However, I am not interested in staying in Texas (the significant other is in Tennessee!), and have started applying for jobs back home.

I have two questions I hope someone can help me with:

1. I am highly-qualified in Texas and have passed the TExES Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities 8-12 and Science 8-12 testing series. I also passed the Praxis II Biology Content Knowledge before I moved. Will I need additional Praxis testing? I am unclear from the website if I need to take the PLT 7-12 and Praxis II Biology Content Essays, since I am not a beginning teacher. If I need them, I'd like to register as soon as possible!

2. I only have 1 year of teaching experience in Texas. I see on the application there is a portion to be filled out by the out-of-state college/university teacher preparation program if you have less than 3 years experience. I completed my teacher preparation program and coursework through a branch of the New Teacher Project, which is a not-for-profit that isn't affiliated with a college or university. Will this be held against me? Has anyone transferred a license with a similar situation?

Thanks in advance! If anyone has any other information about applying for out-of-state licenses, applying for jobs, teaching in Tennessee, etc. I'd greatly appreciate it!

Can't speak specifically on teaching license but I do have some experience in transferring professional licenses into TN. It's a pain. I don't know that it's the worst thing in the world but they definitely don't make easy.
