Is that really true? Where are you staying? We are going another week after that, so if you see lots of things to do, please inform me after you go. We like to do natural sightseeing of state and national parks or attractions. We are very non-commercial people. The commercial things all seem to look the same no matter where you go.

Yes, we prefer to go in October when the leaves change, but we have the same thing going on with my husband's job. All vacations have to be completed by October 1. Thanks everybody for all the help and if you think of anything else, I will keep checking back.

Thanks, North Carolina Native. These are great links. I am thrilled to learn that there is so much to see and do in E. TN. There is definitely something for everyone.

When you go on vacation, it is always good to find good food. We ate lunch at the Cumberland State Park right below Crossville on Monday, Falls Creek Falls State Park on Tuesday, and an Old English Menu at a place near the old buildings at Rugby on Wednesday. Thursday night we were back at Cumberland State Park for Dinner. These were all buffets at a reasonable price, except Rugby. At Rugby, I had a shepherd's pie and my husband had a sandwich. These were reasonably priced also.

I forgot to mention that we saw a lot of animals in the parks. We saw an animal right by the parking area at Falls Creek Falls State Park that my husband thought was a groundhog. He looked like a giant chipmunk. I used to see groundhogs across the creek from our home, but this was just a few feet away from our car as we were leaving. One doe was so tame, it just stood by the road and looked at us as we drove by. Usually they run and a lot of times it is toward your car. There were big birds flying around the very dry falls. They have a drought there too. It was interesting to see the rocks that are usually not visible because water would be covering them. We saw fish and ducks in Cumberland State Park. One mallard duck family looked like it had adopted someones Easter duck. It reminded me of the Ugly Duckling story. One large duck escorted us along the trail. It was like he was the duck police and wanted to make sure we didn't bother any of the other ducks. I am trying to remember which park, and I believe it was Falls Creek Falls that had a museum with a working beehive against a window so you could see the inside of the hive.
