Default Thoughts on Maryville

What is the area like? Rush hour drive time to knoxville? Is it poor or touristy?

Do a search on here for "Maryville". There has been lots written. I drive rush hour to Knoxville and according to some it is hell on earth and to others it isn't bad. I think it is both, depending on the day. As far as your question of is it poor or touristy; it is both - and so much more.

I agree with others regarding the region. Don't come here without a job (very hard for outsiders to land) and be warned that non-natives aren't welcomed with open arms to the inner circle; you have to earn your spot there (here). I don't mean to come off cool, I am trying to give you an honest glimpse. I am a native Kingsporter and my family goes way back there; I am instantly "in" whenever I go there and in M-ville it has taken some work and getting "out there" and making a name for myself (volunteer work, charity donations, my childrens achievements at school). Hope this helps.

SmokyMtnGal: Wow. So true, so true.

It took almost two years to really fit in. It can happen, but not overnight.
