Spring Hill for a family?
I have written a couple threaads about info on Murfreesboro and moving there from Southern California but the other day I talked to someone from Spring Hill can anyone tell me about this area for housing, jobs, and raising a family? Is one of thes areas alot nicer than the other? What about the schools? I know they are in different counties and we wont be able to visit until April. Any info?

Seemed like a family area to me...
when I visited a couple of years ago. (An aside: hubby and I are also So. Californians looking to relocate, but no kids and we'll be "retirees" even though I'm not yet 50 . For us, Spring Hill was not a good fit, as we are looking for low density; I want at least a 1/2 ac lot, preferably more. Most of the new housing in Spring Hill was on small lots, and the infrastructure had not quite kept up... (drive on a 2 lane country road to get there). A big plus: very low property taxes - they eliminated city taxes a year or so ago, so all you pay is the county rate, which is quite low (something like 1/2 a percent of market value). We also thought it was too far to commute to Nashville if I ended up working there. Hope that helps you out.

I think Spring Hill is on the up, although it may take some time. Franklin or Brentwood is a better choice.

Spring Hill is the home of the Saturn auto plant, whose future may be uncertain. It is also right next to Columbia, a good-sized town. Franklin and Brentwood are some of the most expensive areas in middle TN. I've lived in Murfreesboro for 15 years and liked it. Lately, traffic has been a problem, and housing prices keep rising.

I have been doing some research on line and I see all the houses that are being built. I don't know if you could compare or not but is your traffic as bad as So. CAL? How is the job market? How much is a rise in housing costs? I have areas going up around me starting at $900,000.00. And yes all those zeros are supossed to be there.

Spring Hill's "job market?" Unless you plan on working for Saturn or at a grocery store you'll most likely commuting to Nashville like much of Franklin or Brentwood. However, with the increased traffic/crime/etc in Nashville many white collar businesses are relocating to Franklin and Brentwood's Cool Springs area. Nissan's USA headquarters is coming here too. Williamson has grown by leaps and bounds in just 10 years.

You may want to look into Fairview which is an up and coming area in Williamson County. It is about a 40 minute commute to downtown Nashville and the housing pricing are fabulous. This area is offering 1/2 acre lots with their new houses, granite countertops, stainless steal appliances and wood flooring. There are several nice communities: Polston Place, McCormick, Castleberry Farms and Kyle's Creek. There isn't much out there in the way of shopping but it is close to Franklin (20 minutes), and the Cool Springs Mall. I have actually been recently looking into that area, as the commute for me would be very reasonable. I work in downtown Nashville. The crime in that area is low and I have noticed that the closer you are to Nashville, the higher the crime rate. Williamson County has the top schools in the state. And they are planning on building a new supermarket and a Wal-mart in that area. I think it will grow and you could get into a house before they skyrocket.

Franklin real estate
We may be moving to Franklin in the near future (Greenville, SC is another possible option). It looks like a beautiful town; exactly what we are looking for. Can anyone tell me if there is any homes in the $280,000 to $325,000 market? Also looking for good schools; I have a 14 and 9 year old. Any information would be greatly appreciated; we have to apply for jobs soon in one of the areas, so we are looking for as much info as we can get!
Many thanks.

yes
You can get a home in Frankin for under 325K. Use any of the usual search engines (I'd give you one but they are removed immediately) or contact a realtor. PM me and I'll give you a couple of excellent names we have worked with personally.
The public school system here is very good and housing prices have enjoyed a good boost lately. I would expect them to continue to rise. New businesses are coming in (Nissan, etc.) and the Nashville area market is still considered underpriced. Some say by over 7%.
Good luck with your move.
