The strangest experience I've ever had was at the state package stores in Alabama back in the late seventies. As I recall, you had to go throught three different people . . . one to take your order . . . one to fulfill your order . . . and someone to take your money (it was a little like getting your drivers license renewed at the DMV). It was something like that anyway.

I think alcohol can't be sold in TN until after 12:00 on Sundays. Liquor stores, I believe, are prohibited from being open on Sundays.

The Sunday thing isn't so different from some other states. We just moved from Indiana, and alcohol cannot be sold on Sundays there....been that way as long as I can remember.

funny funny stuff, here in mn is odd as well, we can buy beer until 10pm from the 2 very small towns we live near, but you go to a larger town around here, its 8pm except on Fri and sat, then 10 pm. You would think with all the taxes we pay for alcohol and cigarettes(highest taxes next to gasoline) they would want all the establishments to be open 24/7. LOL!

Go to Harrimen to stock up. There are some great liquor stores there. Cumberland county is dry.

When I was in Oklahoma in the military, you could not buy liquor buy the glass in a restaurant or bar, but you could bring your own bottle and the bartender would pour your drink and sell you the mixer in a glass. I thought that was the weirdest thing I'd ever heard of. Or if a place called itself a "private club" they could sell you drinks by the glass if you signed a membership card to join their "club". So you end up carrying club cards in your wallet for all the bars and restaurants you go to. I hope Tennessee doesn't have any laws about getting Wine of the Month Club deliveries in the mail!

Morristown and Newport each have a "members club" like that.! hahahah
And I believe (would have to look this up as it was just told to me) that you can "brown bag" in several restaurants in a few "dry" counties, where you can bring in a bottle of wine or beers with you.

TN is odd with the alcohol sales. Took me the longest time in the grocery store looking for the wine. Then I asked where they kept it and you'd have thought I suddenly spawned 2 extra heads!
I think Warren county is no alcohol before noon on Sunday too. Funny - you go in at 11:45 and see some of the locals lined up by the check out counters waiting for that clock to tick past noon!!
