We are considering purchasing a lakefront lot or house so I am trying to narrow down some areas to consider for our upcoming visit. I ran across this website which shows some lake communities:

Deleted

Does anyone have any comments on the above communities, or recommendations for others?

We are looking at spending $500K or less and prefer a year-round lake and great views. A mild climate would be best (in other words, not too much snow).

No kids and don't need jobs. Just want the area to be nice and not run down. Being close to a larger city would be nice for shopping, etc., but not totally necessary.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Austin,

You might want to consider Tellico in Loudon County. Curious, do you ever go to Lake LBJ in Texas? My husbands family spends a lot of time there and love it.

Thank you, yes, Tellico is on the list but properties are pretty pricey there for waterfront. I like the location though and we will definitely visit. I went to Knoxville years ago and really loved the area.

I've only been to LBJ once. Usually we go to the closer Lake Travis, which unfortunately is so low right now in our drought that there are many visible islands that you normally don't see. Really sad.

I've looked briefly into Watts Bar Lake and it seems to have water quality issues. Another lake I'm considering is Lake Chickamauga. Anybody have any information on these two lakes.

Happy 4th everybody!
