We just bought 2 ATV's. These are new to me as i've never had them before but one is mainly a work horse ATV (an Eiger) that we bought for use on our property and because it sure gets tiring walking up that hill all the time and the other is just a regular "toy" as my husband calls it. Any places in East TN we can take joy rides with them?

Those are very popular vehicles here. There are lots of clubs and rides, trails and trail rides. Some good links to local groups and trails here:
Tennessee Trails and Greenways, Rail Trails, and guide to hiking, biking, and trail riding
You'll also find "hog bogs" advertised, usually on handpainted signs on the highway. These are essentially large muddy areas that people drive the ATVs through and get very muddy and dirty.
There are even ATV resorts, like this one:
RideRoyalBlue.com ATV Guest Resort and Campground - Home

I'm still in FL but we have property in east TN. We'll be making many trips up there and thought we'd squeeze in some play time with the ATV's up there in between and looking to plan probably a gathering next year with my sister and her family from N.H. as they all have ATV's too. Looks a bit rough for a newbie like me but i'll try anything once. Can't be any different than snowmobiling on cliffs right? I'm pretty good at that.

There's a club near, I believe, Oak Ridge, called Wind Rock, that has, I believe, hundreds of acres to ride on! We're Suzuki folks too, my husband has an Eiger and my son has an Ozark. We love to ride...unfortunately here in NJ there's nowhere to do it legally--even though we're surrounded by miles and miles of state land.

Mmmm...can't wait to get down to TN!

We have a place here in FL to ride that is regulated and is just an hour away but it's the only place for miles and it gets so crowded there it's almost too dangerous to ride. It's a few 100 acres but nothing like up in TN has. I need my space at least until i get used to riding a bit more. Sounds like we have something in common with some of the folks up there. That's great. We used to go to the Jet Ski meets in both GA and FL and that was always fun meeting people.

Yeah, atv's seem to be a part of everyday life in TN. Our friend has always had one just "hanging around" to putter around the yard in.

And a lot of the photos I see of TN have atv's in them--I remember one website for one of the towns that showed the kids arriving at school, some on the bus and 3 or 4 atv's pulling up with a parent and a kid on them!

Do they license ATV's in TN? The do here in MT and it sure makes it easier to get to the dirt not to mention they're great for riding to the store!

TENNESSEE RIVER GORGE SEGMENT (http://www.cumberlandtrail.org/rivergorge.html - broken link)

A link to some great riding here in Chattanooga @ Suck Creek if you are interested. Trails and trails! We used to skip school, take off in a Jeep and call it nature day. And as Split said there is some excellent riding up on Soddy/Flat Top Mtn as well. They often take rail buggies up there for a great show. Both great places for riding.

Tellico Trail Map and Pictures (http://www.atvtrails.org/tellico.html - broken link)
And one for Tellico! Amazing place.

BBKaren mentioned Windrock. A must do!
