I have to say that I've been to Morristown many times, it's a dump. There are a few new shopping centers and a few new factories, but there are plenty of dead factories and run-down areas of town, too. Over 10% of Morristown's population is Hispanic, and half of downtown is empty.
If I had to live in northeast Tennessee, I'd much rather live in Greeneville or the Tri Cities.

Parts of Kingsport seem odd- When Eastman laid off all those peopl, alot of residents must have moved out. A realtor showed us a round house (on stilts) that they were trying to sell for 170k- it was falling apart-and in the worst part of town. Whats the deal in Kingsport?

Morristown
Morristown has and is coming a long way...much better than the tri-cities to me, the people there are at least still honest, hard working folk and one day you will have to eat your words about that place being a dump.

I live in claiborne county and its beautiful here also plus we have parks. The great thing about claiborne county is we are neighbored by the best towns.Harrogate is our neighbor and it has a college, middlesborro ky is our neighbor and it has walmart super center, fancy mall, actually its has several malls plus its home of lee majors the bionic man.lol.I do all my shopping in middlesboro since its like 15 minutes away from claiborne county tennessee. Then you go a little further up 25E and theres a golf coarse located in pineville. Living in claiborne county makes it easy to travel to all these other towns cause we are surrounded by the best towns and its a skip and a hop to get there.

Not trying to argue here! Thank you for your fairness. However, I can point out that many people think of Greenville and Kingsport as dumps. I don't know which factories that you are speaking of and no, half of downtown is not empty. You may be thinking of the old hardware building. It has been vacant for years due to the owner's inability to move forward with development. However there are new restaurants and shops opening in downtown. One last point. I don't know why racism was brought here, but you had to go there. True, there are more Hispanics here than in Greenville. Yet, that may have something to do with Greenville's inability to curb their racist tendancies. You need to know that not everyone has a problem with another race. In case there is a misunderstanding, yes many are illegal, but the legal immigrants and citizens alike get treated as though they were trash. I think that a racial comment about Morristown is inappropriate. However, before we go there, I don't like it, and yes, I am leaving. I am a white TN native, but my family and I are moving back to New Mexico in May.

If you're from the Morristown area, why can't you spell Greeneville correctly? And quoting a Census statistic, that over 10% of Morristown's population is Hispanic, is not being racist. It's a statistic, not an opinion.

Nice to hear from someone from my old neighborhood ValerieB, that's where I grew up. I know all the places you mentioned here, been to all of them many times. I left there in 1969 when I went in the military, but I've made a few trips back through the area over the years. Claiborne County TN is one of the better areas of the state that's for sure.

Well, I really can't tell you why I don't spell Greenville correctly. I guess I never really cared to learn how to spell Greenville since I really never desired to go there. I always enjoyed those nonexistent shopping centers in Morristown to which you referred. Imagine, I was only imagining a mall in Morristown. Oh well, guess I'll come to Greenville to your mall. What's that address again? Yes, pointing out one race as a negative is racist. It's like saying, "I don't want to live in the black part of town." Funny thing is, anyone has the perogative to not like a particular race. It becomes racism when they vocalize. My problem is that you didn't say illegals or immigrants. Many of the Hispanics which live here are natural born citizens. The way you used your statistics definately was an opinion. Your tone about Morristown isn't only negative, but brutal, when you throw in a comment about a race, you become brutal towards them. I may not be able to spell Greenville, but I do know prejudicial language!

That would be prerogative. You really are not helping Morristown's case at all.

I'm getting out of this discussion. If all you folks have to do is check my spelling then have at it. If you spend much time you'll find many more spelling and typing errors. Have fun! I have better things to do than to chat with such masters of the English language!
BTW, why is it that I can get my comments struck down for, "personal attacks" and others can openly attack?
