Thumbs up Speed traps in Tennessee.

The SpeedTrap Exchange is a site where visitors can post what they believe are speedtraps. The National Motorists Association cannot attest to the validity of these listings. They are individual postings from private individuals who believe a speed trap is in effect in these locations.

I looked on there to see if it had Cooperstown. It did, but it's listed under Springfield. They tried to boot the mayor out for some of his actions about a year ago; I'm sorry they didn't manage to (the judge ruled that it takes an overwhelming amount of wrongs to boot an elected official out of office). Targeting out-of-staters and soldiers from Ft. Campbell is a bad way to do business, in my opinion.

In the old days, Smyrna was one of the worst speed traps in the south.

I so agree! That is the biggest joke I have ever seen! Lets build a 4 lane, straight highway with almost no feeder streets onto it, but make the traffic go only 20 miles per hour for 15 miles. Give me a break! I thought the whole point of that road was to get to Dollywood without having the stop and go traffic that maxes out at 25 miles per hour through Pigeon Forge?

I travel on that HUGE road whenever I'm in Pigeon Forge. It's a nice, scenic shortcut from one end of town to the other when the Parkway is bumper-to-bumper with tourists. I assumed that the signs were going to be changed after the road was completed. So far, that hasn't been the case. I agree, though, that the speed limit posted there is ridiculous! In the meantime, be careful because it looks like the cops routinely work that area.

As you come out of Miss. on Hwy 72 on a 4 lane you incounter a few miles of the state hwy patroled by Piperton City police. No city is seen.
It is obvious with the number of officers out on this strip that they hiding
ready to ticket travelers driving to Memphis. We use that road a few times a year but will make every attempt to bypass this strip.

How exactly do you define a speed trap? Either you are speeding or you are not.

Thank you. You said that exactly right.

I get so mad running 55 MPH in a 55 MPH zone and people pass me on curvy double yellow line roads because the ''speed limit'' is not good enough for them.

The place will be there when they get there, and if folks think it won't be there when they get there... then why even go?

And if they are going to work, then why not get up and get dressed on time and they won't be running late. It works for me, and yes I'm raising a family to, and no I'm not a grandpa. Just a southern dad that don't ''rush life''.
