We made our decision
and bought a lot in Fairfield Glade. I mentioned it a couple of times in other posts, and we finally went for it. We are still looking elsewhere, but if we don't find anything better suited we know there's a beautiful lot just waiting for us to build. Nice slope down to the lake (well, pond - 3 acres) so I can have a walk-out for my woodworking shop. Top picture is house being built on lot 21. We bought lot 23. Our lot is about where the trees bulge out from the left in the bottom picture. Taken in July on a rainy day.
As for elsewhere: Tellico Lake, Lake Norris, and, maybe, Bella Vista in Arkansas.

Your site looks great. We're headed to FG this weekend to start looking around. Was a site such as this very pricey?

The lot the house is being built on sold for $30,000.00 last January. Lot #24 (west of ours - the lots face south) lists for $34,900.00.
We think that once buyers realize there is water behind these lots they will start to sell at a faster pace. That's one of the reasons we bought. Even if we don't move there it should be a good investment.
The area is quiet, close to the largest lake in the area and very close to a golf course. To the right of where I took the picture is a house that backs up to one of the greens on it.

Looks beautiful there. Being so close to water, are mosquitoes a problem? My husband would love to live near a lake.

Mostly no
We didn't see a single mosquito while we were there. That is significant because they love my wife. Not sure why, but she smells like dinner to them.
The woman that lives at the end of the other cul-de-sac said they have a problem next to the water, but not away from it. A good fogger would fix that for an evening.
We were there in July and it rained while we were there. The pictures were taken right after a storm. You can see that we are next to the water and we saw none there. My best advice is to talk to people while you're there and find out about more of the year than just a one-week snapshot we had.

Aren't you afraid of flooding? Being so close to a pond and also a lake?

The lake is about 100 feet lower than the lots and is controlled by a dam.
The pond has a large area at the west end that is common property and is very low. This is at the other end from where I took the picture. It will take the overflow. Also, the lots to the south of the lake (our side) slope up and there is about a 15 foot difference between the lake level and the base of the house you see in the pictures.
So the answer is no.

It is a bit rural. Liquor - 30 miles. Library - Fiction, non-fiction, children. A few other things. They are working on it.
If you don't mind driving to get some things (Starbucks!) then this place is heaven.
