I am currently living in the DFW are of Texas, The heat wave this summer is about all I can stand. I have lived in Texas all of my life and I do not recall experiencing heat like this. I am considering relocated to Jackson if accepted into CRNA school. I have a toddler and high school student .I want to get out of the inner city, and go some where affordible and healthier for my children. Housing is alot cheaper in the jackson area why? What are the public schools like? What is the cost of living like? What is the average pay rate for an experienced ER/RN .I do not want to live in a cookie cutter house and pay 300 dollars a year to an HOA that tells me what I can do with a house I just paid 200,000 dollars for. Any responses are appreciated.

I am a nurse too and looking to move to TN in a few months. I am finding that the wages for an RN/BSN are much lower in TN than in TX. Just be prepared to have your salary drastically reduced. I am trying to pay off as much as I can so my budget can accommodate the lower salary.

You should know that Jackson gets very, very hot, too, and very humid. Not as hot as DFW, but definitely more humid. If you're looking for a place that's truly cooler than DFW and less humid than Jackson, you'll need to look in the eastern half of Tennessee. Having said that, it almost never gets over 100 in Jackson so even with the higher humidity you might find it to be more comfortable than DFW's high heat (it was 117 in Dallas when my sister was out there 2 weeks ago for a visit).

There is truly only 1 word to describe Jackson public schools. HORRIBLE! That is why no less than 8 private schools have opened in the Jackson area in the past 5 years. If you are determined to live in the Jackson area I would suggest you look at either rural Madison County or any of the counties that surround Madison County. Good Luck.
