Have an opportunity to go to 1 of the 3. Why did you choose or not choose one over the others? I have a good job waiting and will be raising my 5 & 9 year olds at least through H.S., if not longer there. Wife is an Elementary School teacher still wanting to work- Thanks

Though my plans fell through and my dream was never realized, I was in this situation a few years ago. My choices were 1-Chattanooga 2-Knoxville 3-Nashville.

Now we don't know very much about you and your family, what you like to do or what is important to you, so understand this is my preference. A visit to all 3 and lots of research would be the best way to help you decide.

To my wife and I, Chatt was more of what we wanted in a new locale. Awesome views, not too big of a town (hence Nashville being ranked last), and things we enjoy doing: stuff with nature, a great downtown, a better vibe for us, we found a great school and my job would've been more lucrative.

All 3 areas are great, but what are you all about? Big city life, hiking in the mountains, pro sports, and so on. TBH, I'd pick any of em compared to living in MI.

PS-If you read this, I want to say a quick hello to hiknapster and JMT. Haven't been on any TN forum since my relocation was ruined by the real estate situation in MI. Thanks for all your help a few years ago.

Hi TNKY! We are still leaving the light on for you. Don't give up!

Iron City, I've written about this so many times before and you have to be careful lest you step on someone's toes. One person's paradise is another person's nightmare.

Here is one of my posts.

A lot of factors will determine where you end up. No matter where, I hope you find your utopia as I did.

Didn't give too much info because I wanted to know what "you all" liked/didn't. So far, Chat' is 1 on the list because of the central location to the Lakes/rivers/mountains, my family is more that type of recreation vs the 2 times we went to the beach (10 miles from the house) in the last 2 years.... ATL/Birmingham/Nash to get my sports fix.
I've spent a weekend in Nashville with friends that raised their family in Franklin, and was given the $2 tour, very nice. Again, I'm comfortable with Chat', it seems I don't know much either way with Knoxville.
We've spent most of our lives living in smaller cities that were only 45 minutes from the major ones.

In a word, "Nashville."
You won't be sorry, it's beautiful, entertaining, comforting, and has everything you are looking for and more.
I thought I would hate it here, and now I never want to leave.
*** I live in the suburbs of Franklin. There are many suburbs and rural areas to choose from around the CITY of Nashville.
I heard a rumor the NBA basketball team is moving to Nashville soon too. But that's just a rumor.
