Default FAll Colors

I know its kind of early, but is anyof the trees changing colors yet up in TN. I will be up there in a few weeks and am hoping it won't be too early for the fall colors.

Hey there VB.
We don't really have any fall colors yet (around Athens). A few trees are trying but not enough to make a difference. We went to Cades Cove last Saturday and didn't really see any there either. Did see 10 bears though, they are getting ready for winter and a lot of turkeys. We didn't see one deer though, that is the first time that has happened NOT EVEN ONE(very strange). We have deer in our yard all the time. But maybe by the time you get here there will be some color, who knows.
Have a safe trip.

In a few weeks there still will not be enough to make a difference. That will be the peak in Mass but not here. Our peak is usually at the very end of October. In a month you will start to see some color that will be noticeable.

Thanks for the info. I usually go up around the first two weeks in Oct and have been lucky to see the trees in full color, although I haven't seen too many cold fronts go thru yet. That is why I was curious if anything had started changing. I am almost tempted to change my vacation time for a little later in the month. Hopefully some people will start posting when fall starts to show it colors.

Poplar trees have changed around here and starting to drop....

The end of October would be a better choice....

Starting to see some color here. Maples are starting to get red and saw a beautiful yellow tree off in the distance today. Shouldn't be much longer now.

I don't know my trees but I have been surprised to see some trees turning so early. I took a photo of one on Sunday. It's about half turned red.

The foliage reports will probably start the end of next week.

Fall Foliage Info - Coming Soon : Fall in Tennessee 2011

I don't want to miss the early yellow-turned leaves. Those are my favorites. Last year, the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina was all orange and red by 10/17/10 which tells me I should check it out for the yellows about a week earlier this year.
