Tax pretty much ranges from 9.25% to 9.75% I'm not sure if there is a website that pin points each county.

I have a link on my website for Property Tax Rates for all counties in TN.
If you are interested in sales tax rates, you can find that information here:

Hi Ron,
I wanted to clarify that the tax chart I gave you the link for is for local city or county sales tax rates. That does not include the blanket State sales tax rate.
The State tax is 6% on food and food ingredients; 7% on all other tangible personal property.
Local tax - set by the local government (which is the link I provided.)
You need to add the State Tax rate to the local rate. It does vary some, but basically TN sales tax is going to be around 9.75% total.

Tn is the first state I've heard to pay tax on food.
Does anyone know if any other states pay a tax on food? I've lived in Illinois, Indiana, Colorado, Arizona and now Florida. I don't think I've ever had to pay tax on food.

Several state charge a small percentage of tax on food. Unfortunately TN charges the full tax which IMHO is very hard for those on a fixed income. Everyone has to eat. BTW, Arizona does charge a small tax on food.

I think I read somewhere that NC doesn't tax food as a state, but that counties could. And the counties just across the boarder from me do charge 2%. VA charges around 2.5%. AL charges, but I'm not sure how much it is now. And while in St. Louis in May/June I bought milk and snacks and was charged some tax.
