What about moving to the Sevierville area?
Any suggestions?

Kinda depends on what you are looking for in a place to live. Give us some more info on what you are looking for then we might be able to give you some links or information pertaining to what your wants are.
I could tell you that personally I love Servieriville and we go there often but I would never live there because I don't like the traffic and "touristy" atmosphere, but hey, that might not bother you and it could offer you things that you want and need that would have no effect on me at all.
So if you wouldn't mind giving us just a bit more info about why you are looking at Sevierville and what you are looking for in a "home town" in general, we might be able to help you out a bit more.

Well, my wife and I are retired but we ain't dead yet!

We like taking rides. Don't like many long cold spells. Looking for someplace that's affordable in todays society. You know, a little of this and a little of that, with the mountains in the backround.

well, Sevierville tends to be a bit colder in the winters as it is closer to the mountains than someplace a bit further North, but not much different, maybe several inches more snow and a few degrees. Sevierville is one of the highest property cost in east TN and property taxes are higher also, but still less than say Fl or New England. Depends what you mean by "this and that" Sevierville/Pigeon Forge is one of the largest tourist areas in TN and there is a little bit of everything there or just up the road in Gatlinburg. Lots of traffic but there are some back roads. There are mountains in the back ground of just about any east TN town. Your best bet might be to take a trip here, look around, see what you think, look at some of the statistical web sites, then decide.
