Pikeville TN, Bledsoe County
Anyone know anything about it?
I found a great deal on a piece of property and would love to submit an offer. It is right in our price range, and from what I have read on the cities info page here it sounds great.

You are an angel - thank you!!
I just sent you an e-mail. Anything you have would be great. I just want to make sure it is a good safe friendly town for families. Cost of living, employment, community involvement, schools, shopping - anything!

Hello, I am a newbie here and just wanted to ask a couple of questions about Pikeville.
I am a Tennessean by birth, grew up there for most of my childhood but moved to Florida with my parents since I was still a minor. Work here has been very good to me and i will retire early.
We bought a property in Fairfield Glade. This was a "real" property not a membership lot. We have water/sewer/electric and neighbors. A very nice lot which we have seen several times. We love Crossville and have pleasant memmories of all our time there. We have also looked while passing through at Dunlap and Pikeville.
I found some small, inexpensive acreage online in Pikeville in a place called Valleyview Ranches. The property is on Valley View Road about 1000' above 127. There is a road leading to the property called "Hell Hole Road". Can anyone tell me why it is called Hell Hole Road, I passed it but don't remember it. I will be up there again in August but would appreciate any info on Valley View Ranches, Hell Hole Road or the area around Pikeville. Google reveals the elevation but you guys probably know the actual road condition. Highway 127 from North to the KY border to South near Dunlap is a paradise to me. Thank you

"Hell hole rd"
I think you are actually referring to Big spring Gap rd. The name "hell hole" refers to a small gulf in the mountains edge that occasionally gets set on fire by someone. I think the forestry people must have come up with the name.
Due to the winds and shape of the area the undergrowth, etc burns pretty fast and furiously. The fires usually burn themsleves out at the top.
This is close but to valley view--but I wouldn't worry about the fires.
The big spring gap rd is pretty tricky...it is paved now. The good news is there is an alternate road to use to get to the area you are interested in.
Hope this helps, Kerry

Wow, thanks for the info. Actually we decided to stick to Crossville and Lake Tansi. there will be grankids soon and they are a bit less snooty than fairfield but still offer some amenities.
We are headed up in August and will likely venture up that road as i remember the nine mile sign in the area. thanks very much. That drive up 127 or 27 is one of the finest drives i know of.

My husband and I just bought a house and some land off of Big Spring Gap Rd, on Clark Lane. I have been looking all over for information about the water company and can't find it, can someone help? Also, my husband is concerned because our daughter, who is in 7th grade, is supposed to be placed in advanced band next year. When we looked into the high school website, there wasn't much of a band. Do you know of anyone who lives up there and sends their children to crossville schools?
Thanks,
Lauri Michael
