The bank has said 103 degrees when I drove by it, for the past couple of weeks. Today, it said 110.

Default Dead Fish

I was watching the 11:00P news tonight and they showed all of these floating dead fish in Williamson County (looks like it's south of Nashville's county on the map). I mean, there were so many dead fish you couldn't see the water. Yuck. They said they couldn't do anything about it.

We're on our 24th straight day of 90 plus temperatures per WATE, the Knoxville TV news channel and I have to tell you, I can't remember when it was lower than 98 in the afternoon.

I don't remember it ever being this hot for this long around here. I hope everyone is drinking lots of water and wearing light clothes.

While I feel particularly sorry for those who make their living off of farming because they're really struggling with the lack of rainfall, I have to admit that I don't miss having to mow the lawn every week.

That was probably the Harpeth River. I live near it in Davidson County. The Harpeth is a shallow river anyway except when it rains. It's probably no more than a foot deep in places now.

We've just had 2 inches of rain since June 1st, here on our little farm on the plateau. Some of our crops were lost. Hopefully, it will be better next year.

Here in Memphis it is very very hot, but dry. Like a light bulb two inches from your skin when you go outside. I actually had a tougher time dealing with a humid 95 than a dry 105. It's not humid at all.

The bigger issue is lack of rain and the heat sapping up what moisture is in the air, no dew in the morning even. Trees are dying, it looks like fall in my back yard with all the trees dropping there leaves.

It's strange but the weather is odd everywhere. Up here in NH we've had nothing but rain, accompanied by high humidity. One night about a week ago it actually reached 100% humidity. It was like breathing through a sponge. We've probably had 5 sunny days in the last month. My vegatable garden is dying, not from a lack of rain, but because of a lack of sunlight. My tomato plants are no more than 3' high and have still not produced any tomatos. It has been down in the low 60's for the last week, going down into the 40's at night. That's unusual for August, even up here. Today it went back up into the 90's and the humidity is back. It's an insane roller coaster of weather conditions.

[quote=SPLIT;1342456] Could be WORSE like the states to our west, getting FLOODs with 12 " of rain. Some houses pulled off foundations with Mud slides down mountain slopes, and NOT covered by house insurance.co's.

We had 8 - 10" of rain. Lots of flooding, including the Connoquennessing Creek, which I live above. Luckily, we live far enough above that there's no chance of flooding. My yard looks like a mushroom farm. Wish I could send some of this moisture south to you!

blessings, Shen
