Actually Dubble T, Eddie Lampert bought out both companies at the same time. In a little less than 3 years, the guy has cost the 2 companies alliance (Sears Holdings) almost 5 BILLION dollars. When you have a moron CEO running the companies, that'll happen. I agree that Sears wasn't doing all that great beforehand, but pairing up with kmart was the biggest mistake for them. From 2006-2011(when their pairing with kmart was at it's peek), Sears was still profitable every single year, yet their profits dwindled every year. Since 2011, Sears has lost money every year being well below their profit margin. Granted, some other stuff can be fixed as far as sales and profit margins, but by the same route ending their relationship with kmart and some major remodeling across all nationwide stores would help tremendously.
