Default What's to do in McMinnville?

I was talking to a lady recently in the Philadelphia airport and found out that she was heading to McMinnville to accept a job as a botanist for a nursery there. It was such a coincidence because i was born and raised there! We exchanged emails and have kept in touch, but now i'm in a pickle because she has asked me what there is to do in McMinnville....It's been so long since i moved away, i couldn't think of anything except Cumberland Caverns and she's already been there and done that.

Does anyone know of something entertaining to do there these days??

JoAnn

Turkey Creek Tom is on a distinguished road
During the summer months each Friday night downtown there is a free concert that features a variety of entertainment from the older rock bands to the big band swing and they dance and have a good time.
There is always the drive to Rock Island State Park for boating and water ski activities, fishing is great and always you can make the trip up the road to Fall Creek Falls, one of the greatest state parks in the world.
You can drive 20 miles in the other direction to Old Stone Fort State Park.
If you are into bluegrass music and entertainment, some of the best is at Rocky River Community Center. Friday nights are reserved for football and eating out at fish and ribeye places.
You can visit the antique stores downtown or you can walk the beautiful walking trail down by the Barren Fork River.
You can drive a few minutes to either Murfreesboro or Cookeville for some dandy shopping and good eating.
It takes 55 minutes though to drive to Cumberland County Playhouse to see the best performances this side of Broadway.
If you are a youngster or an oldster and into sports - there is all kinds of that activity in McMinnville - just join a team.
Plenty to do - you just have to be willing to do it!

I forgot the big Warren County Free Fair with its pioneer village coming up September 9th-15th and then in the first part of October there will be the Dottie West festival, a two day event honoring Grand Ole Opry star Dottie West who was from McMinnville and oh yeah! the October Street Fair.
