He's In!
Last week, I had the great pleasure of hearing word directly from Thompson Campaign Coordinator Randy Enwright that Fred would officially enter the 2008 Presidential campaign on Thursday, Sept 6th. The formal announcement will come via video webcast at www.imwithfred.com (linked through our site). Later that evening, Fred will be appearing on NBC Tonight Show starring Jay Leno (Check local listings).

Fred has scheduled a grueling two-week itinerary of stops in early key states. We're maintaining updated info on the draftfredthompson.com calendar page. Check in frequently for updates. This info is also available on imwithfred.com.

Tennessee Homecoming - Let's get together
While there's much work to do in the coming months to get Fred nominated and ultimately elected, we should take a moment to celebrate our initial success of helping encourage Fred to enter the race. Saturday, Sept 15, Fred has scheduled an appearance in his hometown of Lawrenceburg, TN. Many supporters from around the country have targeted that appearance as the official kickoff celebration. I plan to be there along with others representing the draftfred site. Why not plan to join us in Lawrenceburg. Once we get an idea of the number of folks interested, we'll organize a place to meet and maybe grab some snacks and have some unique "I was There" bumper stickers prepared for the occasion. Please RSVP if you can make it so I can get a count.

Folks, let me say... Thursday's announcement is what we've all been waiting for and I, for one, am overjoyed. From the first post on draftfredthompson.com, my goal has been to encourage Senator Thompson to get into the race and now along with your voice and help, our effort has paid off; Fred is in the race.

I'm a Fredhead too! Yay! We'll be in TN that weekend...I wonder how far that is from where we're staying. Hmmmm...

eta: Boo, it's over 3 hours away and we're only there for the weekend so, oh well! I'll be there in spirit, that's for sure!
