Need help about Jackson TN (public schools, living in, price)

I need help about the area around Jackson TN. I am planning to relocate there and need info about the area. I have read in several forums about this place. Some say it is good and some say it is bad. Can someone who lives there give me some information. Thanks

I would like to know if the area is as bad as some posts forums state. Or if it is all misleading. how is the overall area.

Yeah, what specifics would you like? I lived there from 1980-2001. I go back about 4-6 times a year to visit family.

It has good parts and bad, just like anywhere else.

When I think about Jackson the first things that come to mind are:

- racial tensions
- very affordable housing
- good public golf courses
- good fishing
- very violent areas, especially for a small city
- most think the public schools are a joke (although I think that varies by student)
- lame newspaper
- tons of chain restaraunts, very few local ones
- decent Farmer's market
- not much to do for the young crowd

What kind of area would you like to live in (urban, rural, mixed, etc.)? What is your price range? What area will you be working?

Answers to these questions might help with specifics.

ok i've been living in jackson tn for 19 years.everything there is to do here can be done within the first three days that you are here.it's a really boring place.there's nothing to do for young or older people.the mall is really terrile.it's more of a place for older people who have retired.
