Well, that is better than the above comparison we have found here on the forum. Chattanooga charges 8 cents per KWH and Johnson City charges 7 cents per KWH
I do not know about Blount Co. sorry.

You're unhappy with 5.6 cents per KWH?

Oops misread the thing! :-) Once I figured things out on the statement, looks like KWH is around 13 cents, and are currently talking about raising it! Ouch!

My rate is a little over 8 cents per KWH. Most of the rates in the areas served by TVA are going to be close to the same thing.

8 cents certainly sounds better than 13 cents (with a most likely increase!). Boy, TN just sounds better and better everyday! :-)

Default October Increase

A Volunteer Energy Cooperative
(VEC) rate increase went into
effect October 1.
VEC President/CEO Rody
Blevins said the residential rate
per kilowatt hour (kWh) for VEC
customers will rise from 7.238
cents to 7.347 cents or 1.5%. The
exact impact on a residential customer’s
monthly bill will depend
on that customer’s usage.
The National Low Energy
Income Consortium has just
released projections of nationwide
energy costs for the coming
winter, along with comparisons
from prior years. Based on this
data VEC’s new rate is still 46%
lower than the national average of
10.7 cents per kWh.
Blevins said the rate hike is
required to comply with new
federal regulations regarding
the funding of employee pensions
and retirement benefits.
“When the new ‘Pension
Protection Act’ passed
Congress last year, it caused
VEC to substantially increase
the funding of our employee’s
retirement plan,” said
Blevins, “We are making every
effort to keep rates as low as possible.
We have no choice but to
comply with these new regulations
and our operating margin is
just too small to absorb these
extra costs without increasing our
rates.”
This is the first rate increase
VEC has implemented since
October of 2003. Over the last 23
years VEC has raised rates
four times. In October of 1983
rates were raised by 4.85%, in
May of 1992 rates increased
2.94%, in October of 2001
rates increased 3.6%, and in
October of 2005 rates increased
4%. VEC lowered rates by 3.2%
in October of 2006.

Whoops! I misread my bill! I overpaid last month. I guess I'm getting a little over enthusiastic about this bill paying thing! (MBMouse, Fred's credit score shot up this month! )

Anyway, My actual bill was $106.18.

It looks like we are paying 7 cents per kwh?

Congrats on the score, sorry about the bill hahahahaha
I was thinking, "how cool, a $60 water/sewage bill"!
I loved it when I lived in the old farm house in Greene Co. Had a septic tank so only used city water, by bill was only $24 a month, no sewage bill but we had to take our trash to the "convenience center" (still don't understand about what is so convenient about carting trash to the dump LOL) but it was cheaper.

I have to pay $16 a month for trash service. I figure I'm paying about $2 for each 30 gal. bag. I've been tempted just to take my trash to the dumpster we have at the office.

But . . . I am sure glad I don't have your water and sewer bill. That's the highest I've ever heard of in Tennessee, I think.

Actually, $60 is the water/sewer...

$106 is the electric...

and Fred brings all his trash to work, with the approval of the owner. Makes it nice to have trash pickup everyday!

I still don't think I have credit. Should I go ahead and establish that, or will it even matter?
