I also am a single mom with a 20 yr son. I am looking to move to a place with changing seasons, plant a vegetable garden and have horses again and be the farm girl that I truly am. I love Sparta and the quaintness of the small town. If you want the city, drive 20 mins down the road to Cookville and then come back to heaven.
I have experienced the same thing in my neighborhood. I don't see my neighbors either.....only their teenage daughter sneaking out of her window at night.

I bought in Sparta a year ago. I don't think I paid very much at all to put utilities on. I think I paid $25.00 to Caney Fork for electric and $25.00 to O'Connor Utilily for water.

L.M. is on a distinguished road
Hello, I am wanting to move from my location in Alabama to another. I recently visited Sparta twice....I liked it there.
Before I move anywhere I would like to know about your area. Presently I raise Dairy goats, a small flock of chickens for fresh eggs, and some produce... that for the last 4 years marketed at a small market that I am involved with when it started and I raise certified naturally grown produce, herbs and flowers. I would like to do some small fruit / vegetable production and continue with my dairy herd. I have 3 children still living at home.
Would there be an interest there for veg./fruit production with a need for dairy too so I could support my home? Are there any markets/ events closeby?
Also are there any homeschool groups in or around the area?
Thank you for your time and help in answering.
L.M. presently Alabama

Default Sparta

We currently live just south of Sparta (Doyle/Quebeck area). The area is big on agriculture, our rented home is surrounded with cow pastures and even an ostrich farm.

Here are some links that I hunted up for you about the area:

Chamber of Commerce

The Expositor Newspaper

Crossville Flea Market

Farmers Market Info

I hope these are of help to you. Please feel free to Direct Message me if you'd like to talk some more!
