Cellular Phones
I hope no one signs up for Verizon, I have been a customer of theirs for 5 years, and now they have ripped me off. I upgraded to a new razor phone and of course had to sign up for 2 more years service. Well the phone just quit working, I have never dropped it or left it outside. Verizon ( I have not even had the phone a month) says it has moisture in it and will not replace it. I say yeah right and just how did moisture get in it since I have never had it anywhere other than in my purse pocket or against my ear. Sounds like a Verizon scam to me. They make cheap phones and then come up with some reason to not warranty them.

I have T Mobile, have had it for over five years.
I did have some problems with the Motorola photo phones, but, each time they replaced the phone for me... I think I had 3 bad ones, the same phone, finally switched to another phone and haven't had any problems with this one yet.
We have free long distance, and no roaming charges. I've been able to use my phone all over the U.S. with hardly any problems.
Also free weekends, and of course, free mobile to mobile, if they have T Mobile.
In a few weeks we'll be down to Tennessee (Middle), so, I'll know then how good our service will be there, and if we'll have to switch providers.
I did check the map with a dealer here, and it looks like if we are in the more populated areas there is service, but, sparse when you get out a ways.
Up until recently my internet connected through my cell phone.
It was faster than dialup, but, slower than cable or dsl.
I could go anywhere there was a cell connection and go online.
It was really convenient.
However, I decided to get dsl, and had to get a landline.
Don't have the internet on my cell anymore.... I'm gonna miss it.

I have had Verizon for few years now in MS. No Problems except when Katrina hit. While in Tn last week, worked great whenever I tried using it.
got better EVDO coverage up there than down here.
was in Cookeville and Pigeon Forge areas.

Here in the Johnson City-Kingsport area I get great service from a company called SunCom. (Note: When you are in a low-lying area surrounded by high mountains, forget about cell phone service.)

I'm not in TN yet, but we have Cingular here in Indiana and we have a lot of problems lately. My husband has always been with them and said service used to be better. I had Verizon previously and never had one problem or dropped call....we get dropped calls repeatedly with Cingular. So changing cellphones is something we are going to be doing once we relocate. So these posts are great information for us!

T-mobile, nor Sprint will work here In Sewanee. Cingular has the best coverage, if you run outside and stand in the middle of the yard to use it at home.. Verizon about the same except it won't have a signal at all up around Altamont or Gruetli. We travel there for ballgames and everyone knows that you better have cingular if you want a signal at all..good news is they now can get service with DTC Wireless out there. Bad news, you have to kinda stay in that area....lol
Most of us use Cingular and Verizon. Service is bad in some areas but its ok in most. "Can you Hear me now?"

I can't speak for all of Tennessee, but I use Cingular on the Cumberland Plateau in the Tracy City / Monteagle area and I get a strong signal in some remote areas where most others get very little.

Cingular has the most coverage in the state, family plan offers the ability to live in more than one area code.

Hi I have T-mobile but my motorola V3 was giving me a hard time. I asked them to fix it for me or explain to me how to troubleshoot it. Everytime I contacted them it took me hours and it just was a waste of time. Recently I found a great tech support that have a huge knowledge base of every consumer electronics products. I found the answers I need it in a few minutes no more need to wait in hold. I highly recommend it - FixYa.com
