[quote=hectorector;1501235]I have compiled my own list of negatives and positives of TN's major cities 1-7. The Tri-cities have been excluded because I have never been there and two they are truly three cities in one.

2. Nashville

Negatives

- Recording Industry still based on Country Music

I don't see this as a negative. It's known as the Number 1 city for country music. If it was known for music, in general, it would dilute that top honor.

I don't think all cities should be alike with the only difference being geographical location.

Hengy Mama,
Whatever are you talking about? Everyone is getting along.... it is just different opinions being shared, that is allowed.

Hector, thanks for the obvious work that went into your list! Like others have said before, it's very subjective.

For instance, I don't really want high population growth, I could care less about skyline, and I actually LIKE small town feel. So for me (coming from rural New York State as a child, and now Northern New Jersey for 15 years), your "positives" and "negatives" aren't the same as mine.

Still and all, it's definitely an insightful list and food for thought!

Hengy, we're from all different lifestyles and regions of the country--there's no subject we're all gonna agree on. We get a little passionate from time to time and sometimes even irritated with one another, but like someone said before--just like a disfunctional family, we all love each other.

Right, guys?

RIGHT???

Bristol, TN-VA

Positives
- Beautiful historic downtown shared with two states
- Lower state taxes if shopping on Virginia side of town
- Growth/revitalization of old downtown w/ theaters
- Explosive and confined retail growth on northeast side (even more-so than Kpt/JC in many cases where convenience is concerned)
- Mountain view/nearby lakes
- King College, Va Intermont
- Countless number of banks (or is that a negative? )
- Bristol Motor Speedway (helps economy twice a year)
- Quick/easy access to I-81
- Mediocre skyline, but better than Kpt or Jc. (Decent for small city)
- Nice, new state of the art library
- Music center coming soon

Negatives
- Lack of full service restaurants on Tennessee side (but growing)
- Lack of decent paying jobs outside of medical fields
- Excessive train-locomotive traffic causing major traffic delays throughout the city (partly in thanks to the closed bridge)
- Increasing crime rates
- Traffic congestion on northeast side
- Hospital too far on the west side for total city convenience
