Default Builder in Crossville

I just moved here and have been looking for a builder in Crossville as well. Everyone seems to rave about the work and ethic of Ronnie Wyatt. I'm renting now and my neighbors recommended him to me.

I've met the man and he seems very genuine and honest, though I haven't worked with him yet beyond an initial meeting. I've also walked through some of the houses he's built and the quality appears to be fantastic.

He is a very good builder but expensive. There is a model open in Fairfield Glade on Forest Hill that he built. Go see it. We had Garrett Builders but our porch sunk 7 inches and steps are falling away from house because he put rebar into wood with no block support. Now it will cost us $6,000 to fix because he will not warrant this or even come over to see it. I would never recommend him!!!

I'm going to talk with this builder when we drive down in Oct. Seems to satisfy his clients.

Click on testimonials.

I talked with a gentleman at Hercon (ICF) about doing the concrete portion. When I asked him about this builder he said he had never worked with him, but that he'd never heard anything bad about him, either, which in a town the size of Crossville is a good testimonial to me.

Default USIG Construction

I had USIG Construction build our last house. They did a fine job - finished on time with minimal issues during construction. They are very reasonably priced - less than anyone else we priced. All in all.....we were very well pleased and would defintely use them again.

I know nothing about that builder, but you must take any testimonials a company puts on their website with a grain of salt. Do you really think they'd put negative comments on their site?

As for the page that purports that the testimonials are from 36 of their last 37 customers (wonder what the other guy had to say?), that page was created in July of 2004 and not modified since! Have they not completed a house in the last 4 years? Of course they have....but outdated websites are a pet peeve of mine. I do websites for the local British car club, my high school class of '67, my homeowner's association and a friend's new online quilt business and I refuse to have any outdated information on those sites. A website is a marketing tool, and it should be kept current. If it's not, it makes me wonder what other aspects of the business are being neglected. But then I'm a born skeptic.....

I agree with you, which is why I asked the concrete man about them. If they were a lousy builder in a town the size of Crossville I would think it would get around.

We will be asking for references when we talk with them and will pass along our impressions if this thread is still active when we get back.

It looks like I'll be getting in touch with USIG also.

By the same token, if they've been in business that long and built that many homes, you'd think they'd be very well known in a town that small if they are an exceptional builder! Of course, it could simply be that your concrete guy doesn't do new construction work and just doesn't keep up with the home builders in the area.

By all means do consider Johnny Raines out of Pikeville/Bledsoe County who will go to your area. He is a small building company with that personal touch. You will get loads of personal attention from him. I would love to have a home built by him. His homes are fabulous and he is very well priced, much better than Cumberland County prices and he is meticulous, and runs on schedule which around here, that's a joke. 423 554 3587
