Default TN Drivers Lic.

Just as a Heads up, anyone needing a TN Drivers Lic.
has to have a "Original Birth Certificate"
I waited 2 1/2 hrs to be told a certified copy is not legal,
in TN.
It has to be Original...
I had to order one online.
took 4 weeks to get.
got it and waited another 2 1/4 hrs to get it.
you also need proof of residence, Bills in envelopes, title documents, and Original Ins. papers ( not cards) are good.
also bring cash or check, no debit cards.
If you have a motorcycle endorsement, bring double the $$$.

-Henry

We have now received insurance paperwork and some utility bills, so I think we are good to go......I hope the line is not as bad here in Chattanooga. I have lived places where I was able to make an appointment beforehand, not here?

We'll let you know!

It used to be awful here in some locations. Typical govenment operation . . . two people working, eight people supervising. I think they caught so much flack that they're improved things somewhat. I think they even provide chairs now so you don't have to stand for two hours. Why, it's almost as much fun now as a doctor's waiting room (without the magazines).

Tell me - what do you mean? How much did it cost you? FOR AN ENDORSMENT? They don't just transfer it onto your DL?

You can check the Tennessee state online page for information on driver's license.
Cars and Transportation - TN.gov
They take checks, at least here in Knoxville, so you don't need to have cash.
When I moved here, all I needed was my Georgia license and something with my new address on it.
After dealing with Maryland and Georgia, I've found Tennessee to be wonderfully efficient when it comes to driver's license and car registration.

auto and motorcycle was $52
for 7 years.
If you wear glasses or are over 55 (guessing)
they only issue for 4 years at half the $$$.

my MS lic. was $21 for both for 4 years.

there was only 3 people working at cookeville station.
7am till computers shut off 7pm. m-thurs.
I don't blame the workers.

Unhappy Motorcycle class is Double fee.

T.JM.J.; Yes , if you want your motorcycle class letter continued on your TENN license it will be DOUBLE charge. One of the few things here I thought was high. Other states will add maybe $5 or so, but here it was double.

BeachByrd: Bonny Oaks on Rt 153 use to be very long lines, DMV added another office on the North Shore of the city. However downTown at the Court House ,2nd floor was not much wait at all. Dont tell everyone.!
