The name "Coptic" came from the language, which is Egyptian and the spelling, which is basically using the Greek (Koine) alphabet with 6 additional characters (and some borrowed words). They went from their own Egyptian characters, to the Greek due to Alexanders conquest. It was the every day language of Egypt. It came to identify the "Christian" churches in Egypt and then to a sub set/sect with all the controversies of the later centuries after Christ.

Wow, very interesting data. Thanks for the breakdowns, JMT.

As an Episcopalian, I found it interesting that the larger counties had a presence in the top 10 (with the exception of Shelby...I'm guessing just outside the top 10?), but not so much as you go down the list.
