Moving to East Tennessee but not sure what city. Any Suggestions?
I am currently living in Ky with family and before that had lived in Ohio for over 20 years. I love the trees and mountains in the south but don't want to go too far from my family. I would like to move somewhere around Gatlinburg or Piegon Forge. Definetly not Knoxville though. I'm a single mom with a teenage son and want someplace that is very safe and a place with high quality of life. I have been researching Maryville TN. Can anyone give me more information on this city?

Try Dandridge - low crime, less traffic than the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, close to Jeff City/Knoxville for college football games and places to eat, plus you have the nice lakes if you enjoy boating.
I had family in Maryville but hadn't been since I was a kid. I think it's a typical quiet, safe 'burb.
Good luck!

Our family visited twice in the last 6 months. Both times in the Maryville, Seymour and Sevierville/Pigeon Forge area. Our 12 year old son liked Sevierville alot - as it had a lot of activities with go karts, mini golf, and nascar stuff. Also Dollywood. If you have a teenage son, there are many jobs available for him in Sevierville. It does get very busy with tourists.
Seymour was 10 minutes away, and is a quiet but growing community. We liked the peacefulness. Maryville was a nice and already busy community. Lots of opportunities there too. Knoxville is only 15 minutes to 30 minutes away from all of these towns if you want the big city stuff or the University of Tn. Best way to decide is to visit first!

Check out Cosby/Newport in Cocke county. Apx, 1/2 hr. east of Gatlinburg. Natl. PArk, Forest, small town, yet close to Walmart, restaurants, hospital in Newport.

Thank you all for your information and suggestions. I have looked up all the areas that were suggested and while I do appreciate the help I think I would rather be somewhere just north or just west of gatlinburg. Somewhere that I can drive to work in any of the cities around. And someplace that is not alot further from my parents in Ohio, 6 hours will already be enough. I really like the fact that Maryville is right in the middle of everything. On one side you have Gatlinburg & Townsend and the other side Knoxville and also not far from the lakes. The areas right around Gatlinburg will be the ones I choose from. If anyone can give me any information on Maryville specifically I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You!

Maryville is a very nice town. They have a mall with AE, Pac Sun, Belk...It has really added some nicer stores lately. There is a Target, Walmart, Kmart, Lowes, Home Depot, just about every restaurant you can think of(Knoxville is only 10 or 15 minutes with plenty of restaurants). They have a very nice greenway park downtown with a pond. They are close to Townsend (about 20 minutes). I hear the schools are some of the best in the state. In all the city is a nice place to live. Very convenient.

Maryville is a great little town and since they just finished the parkway getting to Oak Ridge is a snap. Close to the airport only 15 minutes and about 20 minutes to the PARK. You can find a 2500 sq foot house for about 1/2 of what you could find a similar priced home in Galinburg and 1/3 less then in Sevierville. With the college in town you also get a little bit more diverse population. Sevier County is a great place to retire too but raising children can be a bit of a pain. Traffic is UNBELIEVABLE. It once took me 2 hours to get milk and bread at the Krogers and we only live 6 miles from the store. Maryville also has the main Hospital in the area.
